Anna Noctuelle is an internationally recognised Shibari teacher, rope model, performer, and educator with over twenty years of experience in Japanese rope bondage.

Since 2016, she has taught and co-taught Shibari workshops, private lessons, and intensives across Europe and internationally, studying and working with deshis and practitioners of Yukimura Haruki, Naka Akira, the Akechi Denki lineage, and contemporary fusion rope approaches. Her expertise spans Aibunawa, Semenawa, traditional Japanese rope, and modern Shibari.

What distinguishes Anna's teaching is her rare perspective from both sides of the rope. As both a skilled rigger and one of Europe's most experienced rope models, she helps students understand not only how to tie, but how rope is experienced in the body. Her classes explore the technical, emotional, and somatic dimensions of Shibari, including communication, consent, presence, nervous system awareness, trust, and connection.

Anna is the creator of Shibari Score Notation, the first comprehensive notation system for rope, designed to bring greater clarity, precision, and accessibility to the teaching and learning of Shibari. She is also the co-host of the Model Behaviour podcast and co-founder of Studio Ma, a dedicated Shibari studio and traditional tatami room in London.

With a background in linguistics, classical dance, choreography, and somatics and Reiki, Anna brings a unique interdisciplinary approach to rope education. Her teaching bridges technical rope skills with embodied awareness, helping students develop confidence, creativity, and a deeper understanding of the dynamics that shape meaningful rope experiences.
